Overview

Anita counsels clients in the areas of hospital and health care law, medical negligence defense and employment law.

In her healthcare practice, Anita guides clients, including hospitals, practice groups and providers, through a variety of issues and situations, including risk management, health information, contracting, medical staff issues, labor and employment, privacy and regulatory compliance.

On the employment front, Anita represents employers of all sizes including many hospital and healthcare organizations. She frequently represents employers in cases involving claims of disability discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge and Family and Medical Leave Act violations. She has extensive experience representing employers in front of the Montana Human Rights Bureau and in state and federal courts. She routinely advises managers and human resource personnel on issues including policies and practices, hiring, termination, employee discipline and drug testing.

Anita has an “AV” rating in Martindale-Hubbell law directory. She is admitted to practice before all Montana courts, the United States District Court and Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. She is a member of the American Bar Association, its Health Law section, the American Health Lawyers Association, the Montana Bar Association, and the Montana Defense Trial Lawyers’ Association. Anita also provides regular pro-bono assistance to the Missoula County Crime Victim Advocates.

Anita received her law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane. Prior to law school Anita spent many years as a business owner, employer and medical clinic manager. As an undergraduate, Anita carefully prepared for her future law career by studying Chinese and training dolphins. She earned her BA from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, graduating with honors in Asian Studies. At the same time, Anita worked in the veterinary unit at a Navy marine mammal research and training facility. Anita lives in Hamilton where she and her family enjoy the many outdoor recreational opportunities available in the Bitterroot.
