GLR’s employment practice group is the largest in the firm, and is among the most dynamic employment law contingents in Western Montana. Practice fields cover all labor issues and forums (i.e. transaction, arbitration, mediation, and litigation) including employee contract negotiation and drafting; collective bargaining agreements; employment handbook review and creation; discrimination claims, including claims of sexual harassment, disability, and FMLA; wrongful discharge defense; and ERISA and COBRA claims, among others. The employment practice group works primarily with employers, who can range in size from small start-up businesses to the largest corporations. Attorneys in the employment practice group also handle plaintiff’s cases on occasion and often serve as mediators in employment disputes.
The employment practice group works closely together in order to keep up on the latest legal developments. The group holds monthly meetings in which new case law, regulations, or client issues are vigorously discussed. GLR’s employment practice attorneys also regularly host free employment law seminar for clients and other interested employers. Attendees are provided a helpful outline on those areas covered in the seminar. The day-long seminar discusses the newest laws and regulations commonly affecting employers, and provides topical discussions with panel question and answer opportunities. In addition, we conduct workplace training sessions and workplace investigations for our clients.
