Larry is a third generation native of Missoula, where he attended grade and high schools. He received a bachelor's degree in engineering from Seattle University. He then returned to Missoula to attend the U of M Law School from which he graduated with honors after having served as editor-in-chief of the Montana Law Review and being named the Outstanding Law School Graduate for 1968. Law school was followed by two years of active duty as a commissioned officer with the U.S. Army, including one year in the Republic of Vietnam.

Larry entered private practice with Garlington, Lohn & Robinson in the fall of 1970. He has practiced primarily in the litigation field, focusing on medical malpractice defense, contract, construction and commercial litigation and product liability. Larry has extensive civil trial and appellate experience in both state and federal courts. He enjoys an "AV" rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and is included in the publication “The Best Lawyers in America.”  

In the local community, Larry has pursued a life-long interest in educational and medical issues. As a result, he has a total of over 30 years of voluntary service on governing boards for The American Red Cross, St. Patrick Hospital and two private elementary schools. In the late 1980's, Larry helped organize and served as the secretary and a director of the Montana State Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Committee, the organization responsible for the erection of the Montana Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Missoula's Rose Memorial Park.

Larry has been a speaker at numerous professional and civic gatherings in Western Montana, has taught at the University of Montana Law School and has been active in numerous state and local bar associations.

Larry's wife, Fran, is a native of Denver and they have two daughters and four grandchildren.
