Isaac M. Kantor
Isaac’s practice focuses on labor and employment issues, insurance coverage, insurance agency liability, and insurance defense. He has presented on numerous topics at employment law seminars, including the classification of independent contractors, workplace privacy concerns, and unemployment insurance. He has assisted in successfully defenses of employers from wrongful termination lawsuits before a federal jury and an arbitrator. He has also been involved in many complex coverage matters and has extensive experience briefing issues at the appellate level, including successful defense of workers’ compensation statutes from constitutional challenges, preserving favorable coverage rulings, and preserving favorable summary judgment rulings.
He is admitted to practice before all Montana courts, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Court, the United States District Court for the District of Montana, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Isaac was born and raised in Missoula where he graduated from Big Sky High School in 1998. He attended the University of Montana, graduating with honors in 2003 with a B.A. in environmental studies. Isaac attended the University of Montana School of Law, where he graduated with high honors in 2007. While in law school, Isaac was a member of the National Moot Court team, arguing in competition at the regional and national level. Following law school, Isaac was a law clerk to United States Magistrate Judge Carolyn S. Ostby in Billings, Montana, for two years. He joined Garlington, Lohn & Robinson in 2009.
Isaac is also on the board of directors for the Childrens’ Museum of Missoula, and volunteers his time as a writing coach in the public schools for Writing Coaches of Missoula. Isaac and his wife Rachel have three children. They like to spend their spare time outdoors hiking, camping, backpacking, fishing, skiing, running in local races, and gardening.
